The SVDPCDG Guidelines Working Group
formulated conditions for Guidelines to be used in Primary Health Care, as presented in the Proceedings of the Brussels Conference in 1998. After careful screening of the contend and the evidence, the "Standard for Type 2 Diabetes” of the Dutch College of GP’s (NHG-Standards) was judged to fulfil the criteria. The General Assembly of the SVDPCDG confirmed the approval in Istanbul in 1999.

We do hope this Standard for Type 2 diabetes will be used as a template to develop regional or local Guidelines for high quality diabetes care in primary health care.
